December New Hope Audubon Meeting



The New Hope Audubon Society's monthly meeting will be held on Thursday,
December 5, 2002, at 7:00 pm at the Totten Center, NC Botanical Gardens,
Chapel Hill.  All are welcome to attend.  The normal schedule of the
meeting is:  social 7:00-7:30 p.m., business 7:30-7:45, program
7:45-9:00 p.m.  The speaker will be Rich Shaw who will be discussing
Orange County's Land Legacy Program.

Mr. Shaw is a Land Conservation Manager with Orange County's Department
of Environment and Resource Conservation.  Orange County's Land Legacy
Program is an effort to protect highly significant natural and cultural
resource areas before they are damaged or lost to incompatible
development.  The program works with land owners to protect lands using
a variety of means, including purchase and conservation easements. 
Orange County also partners with local and regional land trusts such as
the Triangle Land Conservancy and Eno River Association.
