Pier Birding and No Cave Swallows

Hi Carolinabirders,
Today, Bob Maxwell and I did some pier watching in the cold. We visited
Myrtle Beach S.P. pier, Apache Pier and the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier.
All in Horry County SC.
Not all that much out there surprisingly not one Horned Grebe. There
were some Surf Scoters at Apache and lots of Red-throated Loons which
outnumbered Commons by about 20-1 but that was about it.
A call from Ritch Lilly who visited Huntington Beach S.P. today and he
said that he did not see nor did anyone else that he encountered see any
Cave Swallows. That does not mean that they can not show up again once
the cold spell breaks (mid-20's last night and tonight). There were a
number of Tree Swallows seen there today.
