Re: Lapland high counts

Hi C-birders,

One of the best places in South Carolina over the years to observe Lapland
Longspurs has been the Orangeburg sod farms. My notes include a number of
records for the sod farms for this species. The high count was a flock of
50, reported by Tim Kalbach on 23 Jan 1994.

Similar species also occur at the sod farms in winter -- American Pipits are
often abundant. Horned Larks are common all year long. There are even a few
records for Sprague's Pipit. Other species of longspur would not be
impossible, either.
