The following are highlights of the 3 hour Wednesday birdwalk at Charleston
County's Caw Caw Park on US 17 south in Ravenel, SC led by Perry Nugent at
8:30 am. A small fee is charged. For more information type www.ccprc.com

March 12, 2003
59 species were seen and/or heard on a very nice day. The most interesting
were; 2 Anhingas, 10 Great Blue Herons including 8 that were migrating north
in V formation, 2 Hooded Mergansers, 1 Osprey on nest, 2 adults and 1 baby
Bald Eagles on nest and 1 first year Bald Eagle fly over, 1 Cooper's Hawk,
15 Red-shouldered Hawks, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 adult and 1 baby Great Horned
Owls on nest, 1 Hairy Woodpecker, 6 Pileated Woodpeckers, 1 Purple Martin,
25 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, 3 Hermit Thrushes, 12 Northern Parula Warblers,
75 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 20 Yellow-throated Warblers, 3 Pine Warblers, and
30 Common Yellowthroats courting and defending territories.
