Allen's HB and OBX Sat.

As Kent mentioned earlier the Allen's Hummingbird in Manteo was seen
throughout the day Saturday. The bird was seen exclusively at the back yard
feeder. An immature male Ruby-throat had the front feeder staked out.

At Oregon Inlet we had 11 Piping Plovers on the flat behind the groin and 5
Purple Sandpipers on the groin itself. The log book at Pea Island reported
a Swallow-tailed Kite over North Pond and the salt flats Saturday morning.

Anyone going to Manteo from the west may want to make note of a productive
flooded field adjacent to US64 a few miles east of Columbia (don't worry
about the exact mileage, you will not miss it, it's quite obvious).
Yesterday the field held Tundra Swan, 9 species of marsh duck, 12 Glossy
Ibis, Pectoral Sandpipers, and dozens and dozens of Greater and Lesser
Yellowlegs.
