Rufous Hummer at Seneca SC

It ain't over 'til it's over. The winter vagrant hummingbird season, that is. :-)

Today (31 March 2003) I traveled to Seneca SC (Oconee County) to band a rather late female Rufous Hummingbird that--along with a more elusive second-year male--has been around most of the winter.

Details are on the Web site for Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History at http://www.hiltonpond.org/RufousBanding030331Main.html .

Later in the day I observed and adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird at Piedmont SC, my first sighting of the year for that species.

Happy Hummingbird Watching!
