On 10 June, Susan Cohen saw 2 Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks at the North
Shore Country Club near Sneads Ferry.
I am relaying the report. I have no idea what the origin of the ducks
might be.
To get to where the birds were seen: From NC 210 on the mainland near
the Topsail Island bridge, turn onto Seascape Drive (directly across
from the Holiday Inn Express). Take a left onto Captains Drive.
Between 104 and 110 Captains Drive is a gravel path that leads to Tee 4
and a pond. The ducks were seen in this pond about sunset. Early or
late in the day--when golfers are least common--is recommended.
