Re: June Gannet in SC

My family was vacationing at Litchfield Beach during this same time. I
think we saw the same bird. My sister, Cherrie Sneed, tried to send in a
report from her laptop, but I don't think it got through. Litchfield is the
next island north of Pawley's. We saw a gannet sitting in the surf about 20
yds. out. When it would lift its wings occasionally we could see some
mottling, so we presumed it to be a second year bird. We were very
surprised to see it at all and especially sitting it the surf so close to
swimmers. It continue to drift northeast with the wind direction.
