The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8;30 am. A fee is charged.

47 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 6 Pied-billed
Grebes with babies, 50+ Anhingas with many babies, 5 Least Bitterns some
babies, 2 Great Blue Herons, 40+ Great Egrets, 10 Snowy Egrets, 10 Cattle
Egrets, 100+ Little Blue Egrets, 15 Tri-colored Herons, 4 Green Herons, 12
Black-crowned Night Herons, all of the herons have babies including one
calico Little Blue who is tending 3 young. 100 Wood Ducks with many babies,
1 Hooded Merganser, 50+ Common Moorhens many babies including some families
that have older babies helping to care for their newly hatched siblings, 30
Least Terns, 1 Black Skimmer, 3 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 2 Eastern Kingbirds,
2 Rough-winged Swallows, 2 Prothonotary Warblers, and 2 Orchard Orioles.
