Magnolia Plantation birdwalk



The following are highlights of 3 hour Sunday birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of Charleston,
SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.

July 20, 2003

45 species were seen and/or heard on a nice day.  The most interesting were;
4 Pied-billed Grebes, 50 Anhingas, 12 Least Bitterns, 3 Great Blue Herons,
40 Great Egrets, 50 Snowy Egrets, 20 Cattle Egrets, 50 little Blue Herons,
15 Tri-colored Herons, 4 Green Herons, 3 Black-crowned Night Herons, all of
these herons have babies, 100 Wood Ducks many babies, 100 Common Moorhens
with babies, 15 Least Terns, 1 Black-skimmer, 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 3
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, 3 Pileated Woodpeckers, and 1 Painted Bunting.
