The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:am. A fee is charged.
July 13, 2003
48 species were seen and/or heard on a nice day. The most interesting were;
10 Pied-billed Grebes with babies, 100 Anhingas with babies, 10 Least
Bitterns with babies, 30 Great Egrets, 30 Snowy Egrets, 20 Cattle Egrets,
100 Little Blue Herons, 20 Tri-colored Herons, 15 Green Herons, 11
Black-crowned Herons, all the herons and egrets have babies, 100+ Wood Ducks
including many babies, 1 Mississippi Kite, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 1 Black
Skimmer, 1 Pileated Woodpecker, 1 Eastern Pewee, and 1 Eastern Kingbird.
