Magnolia Plantation birdwalk



The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of Charleston,
SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.

August 3, 2003

43 species were seen and/or heard on a cloudy day with rain.  The most
interesting were; 20 Pied-billed Grebes several babies were seen, 20 Least
Bitterns, 2 Black-crowned Night Herons, 1 Yellow-crowned Night Heron, 120
Wood Ducks many babies, 2 Mississippi Kites, 140 Common Moorhens many on 2nd
or 3rd brood, 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, 2
Eastern Kingbirds, and 1 Summer Tanager.
