Re: Early Teal Season

Well, it must be fall. Every year at about this time, some subscriber to carolinabirds tries to stir up the Hunters v. Birders debacle. Hopefully, this will be the last of it for this year!

C'Birders,
My local mountain newspaper contained an article in today's issue
informing Carolinians that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had agreed
that a Sept. Teal season was appropiate for the State.

The NC Wildlife Resources Commission spokesman, one David Cobb, division
chief of wildlife management expressed his satisfaction at the decision.
"This early season provides an appropriate balance between hunting
opportunity and the status of the teal population".

The early teal season for 2003 will be from Sept.11 to Sept 20, east of
US 17. Hunters, and presumably other citizens, are invited to attend
7:00 pm meetings on:

Tues., Aug. 12, at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island in Manteo; the
Courthouse In Albemarle; and Haywood Community College Wildlife Forestry
Room 309-310

Wed., Aug. 13 at the Courthouse in New Bern; the Courthouse in Graham;
and the Courthouse in Morganton.

Thurs. Aug.14, at the Courthouse in Nashville; the Courthouse in
Elizabeth town, and the Courthouse in Yadkinville.

Bring your shotguns!
