wren's nest & rain

C'birders,

thanks for the ideas on protecting the wren's nest in
my flowerbox from rain...i liked the umbrella idea,
but could not get one to fit properly...decided to go
with the idea of doing nothing...this a.m. i did see
an adult wren bringing grubs to the nest (which is
smushed somewhat, but still in place) and saw the
eager heads of two nestlings poking out!! Guess the
wrens had it right by wedging the nest up against the
house at the back of the flowerbox...hopefully the
young ones will grow some protective feathers soon.
It's exciting being able to watch thru the window,
altho there's been tense moments, like when a curious
skink visited the flowerbox (i gently urged it out of
the way to another windowbox with a stick).

thanks again for ideas,

linda
