Albino RTHU in Chapel Hill NC

On the way to my "Hummingbird Mornings" presentations in Fredericksburg Va this weekend, I stopped off in Chapel Hill NC on 8 August 2003 to band a true albino juvenile female Ruby-throated Hummingbird. The bird has been coming to a feeder since about the first of the month and probably was fledged locally not long before that. Susan Campbell was on hand to observe the proceedings.

I'm leaving right now for a GLOBE meeting in Iowa for a few days but will post a complete account of the albino banding on 14 August as the next edition of "This Week at Hilton Pond." I promise the digital photos will be worth the wait. :-)

Happy Hummingbird Watching!
