Caw Caw birdwalks



The following are highlights of the latest 3 hour birdwalks at Charleston
County's Caw Caw Park which is on US 17 in Ravenel, SC about 10 miles south
of the intersection of US 17 and US 526.  It is led by Perry Nugent at 8:30

August 9, 2003

558 species were seen and/or heard on a nice day.  The most interesting
were; 1 Glossy Ibis, 1 Wood Stork, 3 Mississippi Kites, 10 Yellow-billed
Cuckoos, 2 Eastern Kingbirds, 1 Wood Thrush, 1 Loggerhead Shrike, 1
Yellow-throated Vireo, 1 Red-eyed Vireo, 15 Parula Warblers, 1
Yellow-throated Warbler, 12 Pine Warblers, 1 Black-and-white Warbler, 1
Prothonotary Warbler, 4 Common Yellowthroats, 3 Summer Tanagers, 2 Blue
Grosbeaks, 20 Indigo Buntings, and 10 painted Buntings.

August 13, 2003

51 species were seen and/or heard on a nice day.  The most interesting were;
1 Black-crowned Night Heron, 3 Mississippi Kites, 5 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 4
Barred Owls, 10+ Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, 1 Tree Swallow, 30 Barn
Swallows, 20 Eastern Bluebirds, 10 White-eyed Vireos, 1 Red-eyed Vireo, 15
Parula Warblers, 1 Yellow-throated Warbler, 5 Pine Warblers, 2 Prothonotary
Warblers, 8 Summer Tanagers, 4 Blue Grosbeaks, 30 Indigo Buntings, and 55
Painted Buntings.
