Curlew Sandpipers still at Huntington Beach SP, SC

Hi C-Birders,

Today Caroline Eastman and I visited the new spoil site west of the base of
the jetty at Huntington Beach State Park, Georgetown County, SC. The two
Curlew Sandpipers seen yesterday came in on the rising tide, at about 1:15
PM. They were with two or three Dunlin and a few Semipalmated Sandpipers.
Also present in the same tidal basin was one dark phase Reddish Egret.

It was rather a slow day at the park. There was a large tern flock on a sand
bar, with Royal, Caspian, Forster's, Sandwich, and Common Terns and Black
Skimmers. We also had a Bald Eagle and a couple of Merlins, which were
picking off sandpipers and Tree Swallows. There were a couple of Common
Ground-Doves and a female Painted Bunting at the Education Center.
