Folks,
Simon Thompson and I ventured down to Lake Hickory in search of
Dwayne's gull. We arrived at about 5:30 pm in an attempt to observe it's 6
PM scheduled arrival. At about 5:40 PM Dwayne and his contacts arrived in
the pontoon boat and invited us to join them for the Lake Hickory Pelagic
trip. It was almost like catching a plane. We headed out and for about and
hour, the bird was a no show. We then doubled back towards the boat ramp
and way out, we saw the bird sitting on the water.
To make a long story short, we were able to drift within 25 feet of
the bird. I do believe that we got some great photos of this great rarity.
Thank you Dwayne and crew.
Best regards,
Wayne
