Magnolia Plantation birdwalks



The following are highlights of the Sunday morning birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of Charleston,
SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am. A fee is charged which lets you into the
plantation for the whole day.  There many things to do for this fee and
others, including the birdwalk that require an additional small fee.

61 Species were seen on a nice day.  The most interesting were; 2 Green
Herons, 1 Black-crowned Night Heron, 60 White Ibis, 12 Glossy Ibis, 30 Wood
Ducks, 100+ Blue-winged Teal, 2 Northern Harriers, 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 3
Red-shouldered Hawks, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 5 Clapper Rails, 4 Virginia Rails,
10 Soras, 2 Spotted Sandpipers, 2 Belted Kingfishers, 1 Downy Woodpecker, 2
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 12 Northern Flickers, 20 Marsh Wrens, 4
Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 3 Eastern Bluebirds, 1 American Robin, 30 Palm
Warblers, 1 Prairie Warbler, 8 Swamp Sparrows, 12 Song Sparrows, and 1
Eastern Meadowlark.
