Sunday morning I walked through the Pine Island unit at Santee NWR. Although the conditions look good for both sparrows and rails, Savannah, Swamp & Song were the only sparrows in evidence and not even a Sora. Several Sedge Wrens, Palm Warblers, Yellow-rumps.
I observed an unusually tame young N. Harrier bathing at the edge of a pond, and it still had two white tufts of baby down at the nape!
