    Where are you from?  Around Pittsburgh I would say the average flow
of traffic is between 60-65 MPH (55MPH speed limit.)  Boston, Detroit
both around 70-75.  I agree there is no need to raise the speed limit if
only a small percentage of drivers are speeding... but where I am
familiar with driving, a large percentage of them do.  I also feel very
safe and comfortable at these speeds, and would probably feel very slow
at the posted limit.
    Yeah, there are scary people out there, but raising the speed limit
20 MPH isn't going to change that.  In fact, it might help, as then
police wouldn't always be on the lookout for speeders, but actual bad
drivers.  A friend of mine said it best - "when you see a cop in your
rear view mirror, you should feel safe, not scared, and that's just not
the way it is."
