Bob Isaacs: Triple Crown Winner

By Barbara Hijek

The News Division has always recognized Bob Isaacs as a leader, mentor and major contributor to news librarianship. His vision has helped shape our profession. Bob has won the Kwapil Award (1991) and been Chair of the News Division (1988). Now Bob is the recipient of the prestigious Excellence in Management Award for the Editorial Division of the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. For Sentinel staffers this is the company's Academy Award.

A shocked Bob was formally presented with this award by Sun-Sentinel President Scott Smith in January. The recipients of this award were honored at a festive banquet, amid much food and libations, at the posh Museum of Performing Arts on January 27th.

Bob's award plaque describes him as a "consummate team player" and "national treasure" who has "worked tirelessly." Bob believes "it is most important to be proactive and an advocate for your department at all levels of management within your company." Bob, Editorial Research Manager, has been with the Sun-Sentinel for 14 years. His career path has also graced the news libraries of the Winston-Salem Journal & Sentinel, Orlando Sentinel and Greensboro Daily News.

The award comes with $2500 prize. Bob plans to travel to Spain with the money. A well-deserved vacation!
