Hi ted
 i tried the oat flour and worm casting and i did grow(or what ever) fungi
i am not a mycologist or anything but to me the white root like things(i think there called hypathae or something) do not look like mold.
also i do think some fungi that work on grain work in the soil because that is what part of the soil used to be (or ganiv matter) untill bacteria,fungi.ect start breaking it down to soil
if there wasn't the fungi that where on the grains where difrent then whats on the soil then to me i would think that the world woul be filled with spoil stale grain because the soil fungi woul not break down the grain.

Getting the flour wet. From what I can tell, most fungi-type organisms that grow under water are molds. When oat flour is applied to compost and kept wet, does it sprout molds which are then available to be eaten by any fungi in the compost? What then happens when this is sprayed on a leaf?
 
Do molds outcompete bacteria for nutrients? Molds are higher order organisms than bacteria and can break down compounds that then become available to bacteria.

Yes, you could add calcium sulfate, but I prefer calcium nitrate, if you need N, or calcium carbonate if you need to chew up some hydrogen ions, or eggshells (calcium carbonate with protein), or calcium hydroxide, if you need to mess more with the chemistry of hydrogen.

But please make sure to not add more than 100 pounds of any of these salts per 900 pounds of compost (think of it as a 1:10 dilution if you need to).

More than that and you get too many things dying from the salt effect.
