Hi Mike
I have never used Nemaslug, and Ted was right about it being Phasmarhabditi=
s hermaphrodita (just checked) which is a bacteria feeding 'eel worm'. I pr=
efer to let the birds, hedgehogs and beetles deal naturally with them, alth=
ough the yucca (used in AACT as a sticker?) as a repellent looks interestin=
g. Introducing a huge number of nematodes seems unnatural when they have en=
ough predators. There may be a problem importing it too.
Using dead bugs may be a way to go too. Dumping them on the compost heap mi=
ght introduce natural controls. I'm sure I read somewhere that each plant c=
arries the organisms capable of killing it too (?).
Be well
Stuart

Subject: [compost_tea] Slugs and Tea
Me again, the family is out of the house so I am taking the chance to cat=
ch
up on my questions.
I and many others have over the years followed the old timers suggestion =
of
taking a bug mashing it up and letting it sit in water for a while and th=
en
spraying this concoction on that same bug .It does seem to work.We have a
big slug which is locally known as a banana slug and spraying these guys
with there dead cousins does seem to work.No data just observation.Today =
I
found a bottle from last year and I was wondering if I should add a bit t=
o
my Tea and see what happens.I have also thought about getting some of the
Nemaslug type product from the UK and adding that to the tea,,but was
wondering what would happen.
Maybe Stuart in the UK could try this out and let us know how it works ou=
t.
Once again all thoughts will be appreciated
Regards
