Re: [compost_tea] Re: chelating minerals with ACT
Typically you can reduce mineral chemical applications by 1/60th of what a soil chemistry recommendations, IF you add the nutrient WITH biology - that means, in the compost.
You can reduce even more, apparently, if you add the mineral in the compost tea.
Why? You don't lose up to 95% of the mineral through leaching and volitilization if you apply the nutrient with the right biology.
Evidence? Go read Applied Soil Ecology. Check the Soil Ecology Society.
Arden Anderson and I are doing this kind of work, determining what the rates actually are. We learn things everyday. Come to ACRES the December in Minneapolis. Arden and I are giving a pre-conference workshop, where we will be covering these latest findings!
But we don't know everything, and there's so much to learn!
