[compost_tea] Thank you and a question (Was) newbie intro and question
that is what I thought too. I really have a great interest in building my o=
wn living compost and brewing my own compost tea. I will browse through the=
archives this winter as I live in zone 6 New England and my arm chair gard=
en time begins then. Right now I am building soil by applying RWC and parti=
ally composted leaves from last fall as the garden beds become empty. This =
has been working wonderfully for several years as I build soil slowly. The =
earth worm population and other organisms have really grown since I began. =
I have riased beds on a south sloping terrised hillside with sandstone ledg=
e about 24 inches down. I grow a really nice garden every year bio-intensiv=
ely so soil health is essential to me.
I have read that compost tea made properly fights fungal diseases such as p=
owdery mildew. I have several fungal disease problems because of our wet we=
ather pattern this year. Thanks for personally writing me.. I am excited an=
d willing to learn. The only problem I may have is $$$ being disabled and o=
n a fixed income.. I have read somewhere that one can gather soil samples =
from different sites like lake side and deep forest in small quanities to g=
ather wild soil organisims for your yard. IS this true?
Hi Smitty -
You might want to buy the Compsot Tea Brewing Manual, and learn what good=
compost is really all about. Not all things sold as compost is in fact co=
mpost. It has to have the proper organisms in it.
The tea brewers can be very simple - go back and read some of the past ar=
chive information on how to make your own brewer. If you can't find the in=
fo, e-mail me separately, and I'll go over the instructions with you.
