Elaine,

For someone who demands that others not "twist" words, I would certainly
expect you to follow the same protocol.

I never said ICTC was like a pharmaceutical company. Please reread my
original message.

Nor did I say that research was outside the charge of the ICTC. I said
education and information is the charge (primary). The quote you
highlighted is a perfect example "To create a forum for education in the
history, philosophy, science and actual practice of using compost tea, that
furthers the knowledge and therefore the success of compost tea."

Elaine said:

If the only purpose of the ICTC is to put information about compost tea
together, then why is that organization needed?
Steve Diver has already put that information together. Check out what he has
written on the ATTRA website.

Tim Said:

Again, please do not twist my words, I never said the only purpose was
information, but it IS the primary purpose.

ACT is from from mainstream, and it is going to take a whole hell of alot
more organizations, individuals, etc. to make it so. ICTC realizes this and
has addressed this in their Purpose Statement. It is obvious that education
and information are the primary charge.
a.. To promote awareness and public interest in using compost tea.
(Education/Information)
b.. To be a resource for accurate information, scientific data and
practical experience about compost tea in a user-friendly manner.
(Information)
c.. To be a clearinghouse for national and international compost tea
standards that promote a quality product. (Info)
d.. To create a forum for education in the history, philosophy, science
and actual practice of using compost tea, that furthers the knowledge and
therefore the success of compost tea. (Education\Information)
e.. To provide opportunities and information that promote integrity,
professionalism and education from the compost tea industry and all related
industries, including agriculture, landscape, forestry, soil science and
geotechnical engineering. (Information)
f.. To provide a unified voice that represents the best interests of
compost tea and ensures its safe and successful continuation.

  Hi Tim -

I look at the following part of the ICTC mission statment to suggest that
"further education" is part of what they will do, and that research is part
of the group's mission.

Research is, therefore, not outside the charge of what the group could be
expected to do. ICTC is NOT strictly just an informational group. In fact,
exactly the opposite of what Tom J suggested is the actual situation with
ICTC.

The ICTC has meant, all along, to do research. If the ICTC is indeed an
un-biased group, representative of the industry, then there is every reason
to expect that they could do un-biased research. I don't think that the
ICTC is like pharmaceutical companies at all.
