railroad records

I am generally a list lurker and am always impressed with the helpful
information forthcoming from list members. Today I need to ask for your help.

I am researching the history of Flatonia, Fayette County, Texas, the small
railroad town where I grew up, and the past importance and relationship of
the railroad and cotton to the town's once very healthy economy.

The E/W Southern Pacific line reached Flatonia in 1879 and the intersecting
N/S Texas & New Orleans line was complete in 1884. Where can I find the
cotton tonnage shipped via railroad from the Flatonia station from the
1880s to the mid twentieth century?

Please respond off list. Thanks in advance for any advice and direction.
