"Don’t Let Them Become Extinct: Basic Collections Preservation"

Instructed by Susan Dick, Director of Library & Archives, and Mandi Johnson, Visual Materials Archivist, GHS

This workshop will cover the basic principles involved in the care and storage of documents, photos, books, leather, metal, wood, and cloth. Attendees may bring items for on-site consultation.

This beginner’s workshop will cover research basics: what you know, what sources are available at home, and basic sources available in facilities. Hidden treasures for genealogists will also be discussed.

This workshop will cover basic photograph preservation, from identification of different types of historic photographs to proper handling and storage practices.
