Care and Management of Photographic Collections
October 23-24, 2000 (Registration deadline: October 8)
Location: State Historical Society of Wisconsin

This course provides an introduction to the administration and care of
photographic collections. You?ll learn how to understand historical
photographic processes; provide preservation, conservation and security
for collections; collect and appraise photograph collections; provide
access and reference; and deal with reproduction and copyright
issues.
The Management of Digitization Projects
November 16-17, 2000 (Registration deadline: November 1)
Fee: $295
Completing
a successful digitization project requires a combination of critical
skills including technical knowledge, project management, communication,
familiarity with materials, and the ability to analyze the project with
an eye toward adapting new and useful technologies in mid-stream. The
workshop will cover project planning; timelines; budgets; technical
specifications and standards; capture, storage, and access; staffing and
productivity.
