Congressional Collections

In response to Valerie Nye's request for advice on arranging for
the transfer of a recently deceased U.S. senator's papers --

a number of good suggestions have been made (especially to talk with Karen
Paul), but in general, and for the benefit of others who are not really
familiar with the good help available:

There is a solid network of archivists who work with congressional
collections, an empathetic group of people who have faced daunting
problems presented by some of these humongous collections. Check out this
web site which has contact information for the Senate Archivist and the
House Legislative Resource Center, as well as the Congressional Papers
Roundtable of SAA, as well as several repositories that hold congressional
collections

http://www.lib.udel.edu/ud/spec/congress.html

An online version of Miller's _Closing a Congressional Office_ is
available from the House - Office of the Clerk - Legislative Resource
Center - Archival Information

And if you're in Denver, come to the Congressional Papers Roundtable
meeting.

Good luck
