Re: Longevity of Color Transparencies



Hi, Dave! Have you looked at Gaylord or Light
Impressions? They might be indexed in the back and the
products you are directed to will give you an idea of
common preservation techniques being used.  I very much
doubt there is similarity between color transparencies
and photographs. Are you talking about the transparencies
that go on overhead projectors? If so then you need to
determine what kind of plastic they are made out of and
what kind of ink.  My safest  conservative recommendation
would be to color copy the transparency onto acid free
paper - the format of the information is now obsolete,
right? if it's for a presentation or a lecture then the
lecture is over but as long as the information and
presentation are intact, then you've preserved it.  Love,
