Anyone else looking for the Friday Funnies?

The university's gearing up for another session; somebody started the
kids on the "treasure hunt" assignment without giving me the "head up"
again.  (Translated this means I've been assaulted by new students
coming out of the woodwork with questions such as:  Where is the time
capsule of the class of '49 buried?  Which university chancellor was the
first not to be a Methodist minister?  What is the significance of the
brick you have under glass in your display case out front?  And so on.

Not only that but the list of questions has been changed.  Wish they'd
check with me first, because some of the questions aren't quite
"right."  And I now have to prepare another Cheat Sheet for the
Reference staff who end up with the questions when I'm in a meeting or
whatever.

I've prepared a mid-morning/breakfast type social for a new librarian.

I've done contract negotiations for the local historical society that
wants to rent a lecture hall on campus.

I've written and re-written several drafts of patron registration
policy.

I have a 5 p.m. social engagement with one of Special Collections most
influential donors.

I have one week's notice to prepare a grant (who times these
announcements, anyway?)

And the archaeology professor tells me no one confuses him with an
archivist; why would anyone confuse me with an archaeologist?

And the list goes on.

Somebody distract me with something funny!  I need to be in a good mood
before socialising with Dr.... and his wife.
