Museum's are still active users of laser discs, and the players are still
available. The laser disc players we use here are in the $1500 ($1450 2
years ago) range. Contacting a museum near you (esp. with interactive
exhibits &/or a theater) would be a possibility for viewing the disc to see
what you've got (at least I wouldn't have a problem with a request to use
our players for such a purpose.) You could then decide whether or not
you'll be needing the equipment on a permanent basis & go from there.
There's a commercial AV vendor here who rents the players (we've needed a
loaner when one of ours was out for repair). Renting the equipment in
order to dub over the disc to another format (VHS, etc.) would be one idea.
They'd also be a source for purchasing used equipment.
Let me know if you'd like any further details.
