Re: CA and Jobs-Which is it Lucinda?

Tom--

You answer your own questions, i.e. Why doesn't certification get more support in the field? and what does the lack of suport say about our field?   If professional archivists had agreed in 1989, or even now agreed,  that CA was an important, valid, useful, necessary, valuable, relevant, and significant credential in hiring archivists it would be universally adopted at this point.

What about my earlier points that ACA survey its own members (plus past ACA members) to determine geographic, functional or other reasons for support (or lack of support in the case of recidivism) of the CA?  That analysis would certainly provide ACA with alot of information about how to convince archivists to become certified (and employers to list the credential as necessary ) since clearly that has not happened over the past 13 years.
                                                             Sincerely, Lucinda
