Re: Early Friday Funny
Our crew here has always enjoyed the "World Weekly News", Dean. Among our
favorites are the Space Alien who tried to mate with a weed-whacker, the day
Elvis called President Clinton, and more recently, Hillary carrying on
behind Bubba's back with the Space Alien (guess things didn't work out with
the weed-whacker!).
I wonder if my boss could get us a subscription under the heading of
"professional development"?

Subject: Early Friday Funny
I've commented before how my then-teenage daughter
refused to go shopping with me because I would stand
at the checkout line and read aloud (in a loud and
believing--not incredulous voice) the latest bizarre tabloid
headlines. I called this practice my version of parental
revenge for all those early years of public tantrums in the
stores. Anyway ... one of the classes that I teach has to do
with primary sources, what are they, etc.
I've always managed to lead the students down the road
that newspapers are primary sources, and then I whip out
"my" newspaper which is always one of these outrageous
headline tabloids. And then I talk about accuracy, spin, etc.
Anyway, this morning I got my "latest" copy of my tabloid
to use for this class. The latest Weekly World News headline
is "Abraham Lincoln Was a Woman!"...and the great interior
headlines read "Abe Was a Babe" and "Babe-raham Lincoln"!
This is pretty funny and a perfect "historical" headline for
class!
