Re: Redacting Names From Document



One suggestion I've read about is to blacken out the information then
photocopy the page with a boiler-plate note about what you did and why.
Shred the original and keep the copy.  If the original document is to be
kept for its color/seal/etc., then probably cutting out the redacted part
is the best option.  If the document has a monetary/historical value
beyond the info on it, you may have to keep it as is and restrict its use
for a period of time (consult your legal counsel).  The deed of gift or
other agreements you have with the donor may complicate all this of
course.  Best Wishes
