We saw the following spring birds yesterday along the first half-mile of Buckeye Trail in Raleigh.
White-eyed vireo
Black and white warbler
Palm warblers
There were also many Yellow-rumped warblers, a Red shouldered hawk sitting right above the creek and loads of kinglets. Several weeks ago, I saw the first Blue Grey Gnatcatcher and Catbird in this same area and a hawk on the nest back in swampy area where the Red-Sh hawks have nested previously. There didn't seem to be a hawk on the nest yesterday.
This area is near Capital Boulevard and is part of the Raleigh greenway.
