I want to thank all the folks who responded to my attempt to create a guide
for the beginner. Thanks many times. As I got a number of e-mails, I am
responding to the list.
First, if you use my domain, any attempt to refresh the page you are on will
shoot you back to my home page. I will have to work on that with my domain
host. My apologies to those who refreshed the page and got irritated.
Second, I made a gross mistake (which I have corrected) in naming the Sibley
Guide (which I don't have, lamentably) as having photos, and which is now
appropriately Stokes Guide. I have no experience with Sibley or
Kauffman.(sp?)
I have also added a couple of suggestions made by astute folk (you know who
you are). Thanks again!
I have been seeing the Bluebirds daily, and all three Mimic Thrushes are
seen and heard in the neighborhood; even saw a Thrasher wandering in
someone's front yard acting like a Robin (seeing them too). Heard what
sounded like a Fish Crow in Morganton - had the "ah-ah" sound, but wouldn't
call it as that, as it is too far out of range. It was on a lamp post in
K-Mart parking lot, and no adults around.
No interesting birds to report, but Summer is yet young.....
