Wildflower & Bird Pilgimage - Asheville

For those who don't have anything else scheduled this weekend (perhaps the busiest weekend of the year), and cannot go to the CBC meeting, there is the Spring Wildflower & Bird Pilgrimage sponsored by UNC Asheville Department of Biology.  Cost is $3 per person for the whole weekend.

It begins on Friday evening with a lecture by author, photographer, and hiker Leonard M. Adkins of Catawba, VA, talking about the Appalachian Trail.  His Wildflowers of the Appalachain Trail received the National Book Award last year.  Friday evening lectures are always interesting and entertaining.

At 6:30 - 7:30, before the lecture, is the sign up for field trips the rest of the weekend.  There are 13 all-day and half day field trips including some just for birders.  The Saturday half-day trip led by Bill Sanderson (of this list) to on the Parkway to Craggy Gardens is sure to turn up some great birds.  Sunday morning Bob Wilson will lead a Piedmont/Mountains trip along US 70 to Old Fort and the Parkway.
