Bird Call help

Hi there!

A few weeks ago, while at my mom's house, I heard a bird that I did not recognize. I caught a glimpse of it, and I'm afraid all I can say is that it was medium sized, like a cardinal or smaller, and kind of an all over drab brown-gray color.

Last evening I heard the same call in my yard, but after fifteen minutes of seraching with the binos, could not locate it.

The call is very loud and clear, and I can most accurately describe it as the final note of a Bobwhite's call. Like "Poor Bob WHITE" with just the "WHITE." It also sounds sort of like someone whistling for a taxi. :-)It either calls two of the same note, with the second slightly louder, or just a single call. Again, the call is very loud and clear.

I wish I could offer more, but that's all I have. Oh! When I saw the bird at my mom's house, it was up in a scaggy pine, right near the red bellied woodpecker house I have installed there.

Hope someone knows what I'm seeing/hearing!
