Adult male Calliope!

Ginger Travis has a beautiful adult male Calliope Hummingbird coming to her
Pinapple Sage patch in Orange Co., NC. I managed to get some photos of this
little guy yesterday morning as he perched in a Sourwood tree above the
patch:

Last winter Susan Campbell banded a hummer near here that she thought at
first to was a Calliope. Kent Fiala scoped this bird in search of a leg band
and saw none, and Susan Campbell also took a look at the bird and will
attempt to band it later (hummers are very difficult to capture when they're
not coming to a feeder).

If you'd like to look for the bird, contact Ginger at 919-942-7746 (h) or
Ginger@athena.dev.unc.edu (w).
