The following are highlights of the Sunday morning birdwalk at Magnolia
Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) Northwest of Charleston,
SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
November 24, 2002
69 species were seen and/or heard. The most interesting were; 2
Black-crowned Night Herons, 20 Green-winged Teal, 150+ Blue-winged Teal, 2
Gadwalls, 2 Ring-necked Ducks, 8 Hooded Mergansers, 4 Northern Harriers, 1
Cooper's hawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 2 red-tailed Hawks, 1 American
Kestrel, 1 Virginia Rail, 3 Soras, 1 Common Snipe, 4 Pileated Woodpeckers, 3
Yellowbellied Sapsuckers, 2 House Wrens, 1 marsh Wren, 15 Eastern Bluebirds,
12 Cedar Waxwings, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, 8 American Goldfinches, and 1 House
Finch.
