The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of
Charleston, SC led By Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
March 9, 2003
68 species were seen and/or heard on a cloudy but nice day. The Most
interesting were; 30 Anhingas many courting, 12 Great Blue Herons and 4
nests, 40 Great Egrets many courting and some nests, 1 Green Heron, 25 Wood
Ducks ( 5 Babies ), 2 Gadwalls, 2 American Wigeon, 1 adult Bald Eagle, 8
Pileated Woodpeckers, 6 Purple Martins, 500 Tree Swallows, 1 Northern
Rough-winged Swallow, 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, 4 Eastern Bluebirds, 1104
American Robins, 20 Dark-eyed Juncos, and 20 Rusty Blackbirds.
