The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am. A fee is charged.
53 species were seen and/or heard on a nice day. The most interesting were;
10 Pied-Billed Grebes ( babies ), 10 Least Bitterns ( babies ), 2
Black-crowned Night Herons, 1 Yellow-crowned Night Heron, 1 Mississippi
Kite, 1 Osprey, 1 young Cooper's Hawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 1 first year
Broad-winged Hawk, 100+ Common Moorhens many with a third set of babies, 8
Least Sandpipers, 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 1 Belted Kingfisher, 10 Eastern
Kingbirds, 3 Eastern Bluebirds, 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 1 American
Redstart, and 2 Indigo Buntings.
