Re. Barn Owl in Wake

Hi all. I just realized I should inform folks who might try to see the
Barn Owl in Wake that there are some restrictions along Reedy Creek
Road. For one thing the NC National Guard headquarters is right next to
the Museum's wet lab facility. As you might imagine they get pretty
nervous when strange people are running around the area looking through
binoculars. I suggest avoiding the area anywhere near the Guard. The
Museum's Wet Lab is not really a public Museum area either, though
eventually the meadow area will have a greenway access to it. Probably
the best and least contentious viewing will be from the road right of
way along Edwards Mill Road looking back toward Blue Ridge Road. Not
particularly attractive or inviting. I imagine this bird will alos use
the cow pastures on the other side of Edwards Mill near Schenck Forest
so you can park there as well. The pastures are fenced and off limits
but viewing conditions are good. The Museum of Art also has acres of
unmowed meadows so there might be opportunities there as well. John
