At dusk or dawn, you must have your low-beams on BY LAW. 

When it is cloudy out, DRLs help you see oncoming cars sooner as well.
Esp. those little grey Tercels and such.

BTW, other manufacturers use the orange parking light as a DRL. The
Mazda Miata and the new Chrysler Minivan are two examples.
