CLAY In a perfect world i would collect some soil from the as yet not cleared area - or an area adjoning your planting area, not yet cleared, mix with the compost used for making ACT - now you are talking big ACT systems - brew in the usuual way, apply at the point of planting the new trees and to the foliage of the new trees? Better verify thee bio with some tests or bio experts. I'm and engineer. Test the process, if Elaine suggests a way to determine if this works. It may be possible to multiply those original microbes. Hmmm better know what to feed in the ACT nutrient mix to encourge THOSE microbes to multiply. .

i live in western australia where a lot of our native forests/woodlands are
being cleared. In a documentary i recently watched on this subject, a Uoh, clearing those forests could change the climate inland to make it even drier. Typically trees evaporate more water than a lake of equal size. I'm sure your people know this.
a biologist stated that many of our native plants have relationships with
native microbes in the soil that enable nutrient absorbtion etc.
Isn't that what the soil food web research says about all plants and soil ? When areas are cleared, all of these microbes are removed in the top few cm,
im assuming. withut their food supply they are certainly going to be either hungry, dormant or dead??

so a few questions

is it possible to brew native microbes to spray on reveg projects, so we are
not just planting trees but also kicking it along biologically?

Are these native microbes represented within the large diversity of normal
compost tea?

would i need a different compost starter?

or would this just be a waste of time because when we revegetate, do the
microbes just come back?

the biologist seemed to be saying that they would be lost.
If I was to spend the money to replant and expect a new crop of trees to thrive I would think the added cost of ACT would be worth it.
Clayton Chipper Think in terms of 250 g brewer to use with planting trees. Need a way to keep it aerated right there at planting time. Brewer on a hill. hoses to the planting area. ACT can't stay long in the hose either May be better to soak / dampen some compost with ACT and use that to plant around the trees Ideas anybody? Back pack sprayers with some kind of aeration and small aerated wind or solar driven aertion brewer / storage tanks? Bob
