The single factor analysis approach usually does not apply to the REAL
world. Hasn't that been the major Achilles heal of modern thinking? Are we
going to start testing somehow the many thousands of bacteria, fungi, etc
that exist in the natural environment?
Who cares what we can do in some contrived artificial environment? Measure
away! How is this going to help in the real world? Biological
agriculture/horticulture is not as tenuous as you seem to be implying. I
know of a number of farms around the world that get very good results using
biological methods. Of course, that does not mean that you or somebody else
would get similar same results in the same locations or using the same
materials or tools. It is a nurturing process that has to be creatively
applied because the real world is not controlled only influenced.
I got unmistakably outstanding results from using my compost tea this year
for the first time. This was not a slight improvement or a fluke of the
weather. I live in the high desert. It was not until August that I got my
tea making act together. I applied it to vegetables that were already on the
decline yet I got some of the best quality and production ever in 20+ yrs.
of growing vegetables right up to frost.

Yes those are all right for the field. What I'm referring to is a
process whereby outside environmental factors do not play a role.
Stomatal responce is greatly infueanced by weather conditions and
polluants in the air. What is the net photosynthesis and dark
respiration, CO2 fixation of CT treated plants in a controled
environment? And has different bacteria and fungi been isolated and
used in any of these studies to pinpoint cause and effect???? Not the
kitchen sink approach.
