Re: Records for New Building

Kathy:

You'd be wise to assume nothing when it comes to building management saving
drawings of the finished structure.

In a couple of past experiences with other employers, the plant management
did not save all the final (or proposed/amended/change order) drawings, and
would occasionally come to our archivists/collections staff to say "we
need...". The change-order drawings often proved especially relevant. Worse
still, plant management has a rather nasty habit of drawing all over their
final diazo (blueline) prints and/or losing individual sheets all together.

Best advice is to get one pure set of blackline prints each and archive
these permanently as masters, and a reference set of each edition of
drawings. A headache, yes, but what can you do???
